Social Studies Current Events Project Guidelines and Due Dates
CURRENT EVENT DIRECTIONS
2023-2024
Current Events. What is a current event? An event is something that happens or is regarded as happening; an occurrence, especially one of some IMPORTANCE. Current refers to now - for our class something that has happened since August 1, 2023 through the rest of the school year. In general, sports and accidents are not to be used for current event assignments. Current events are an assignment that you should get an A on. These will help bring up poor quiz or test scores. Of course that means you have to do them correctly and on time or they will take your overall grade down. This will also help to prepare you for completing these current event projects more often in 7th and 8th grade. For current events you must read a NEWS article (internet or newspaper is fine) and complete the assignment requirements. Make certain you are using reputable internet news sites.
Each current event will be turned in via Google Classroom. Make sure you are reading comments I leave on your current events. This will help you to improve your current event grades as the year progresses. Students will be given some class time each Friday to work on this and ask questions, but it will primarily be completed independently outside of school/ class.
Current Events should be completed using the CURRENT EVENTS FORM posted for each assignment on Google Classroom. Each section is described below.
