Thanks for letting us celebrate your birthday with you!

Although some days are still a little chilly, Spring is in full swing in our classroom! This week we are enjoying learning about and discussing the parts of a flower, what plants need to grow, and each student is growing their own patch of grass! I converted the dramatic play area into a Flower Shop and they are enjoying that center along with our writing center where we were making sentences about flowers and our math center where they are using their counting skills to make bags of seeds to "sell"! What a fun week it has been so far! I wish I had taken more pictures, but we have been so busy! Time flies when you are having fun!

To continue our Construction theme, I introduced a new math tool... Ten Frames! We practiced building ten and worked on deep thinking skills and number sense.

Today we read the story "The Three Little Pigs" during read aloud time and then we built houses using sticks and bricks. We talked about different building materials and tools you might use as well! I challenged the students to think deeper by asking questions about how to make a house sturdier to stand up to the Big Bad Wolf just as we read in the story. They did a great job thinking of a variety of ways to build houses and how to improve them!

Throughout the week, the kiddos practiced brushing a big set of teeth with a big toothbrush which they all loved! We also painted with toothbrushes for some sensory fun and to end the week, we had a Dental presentation from the Slaughter Family! Thank you so much for visiting with our class!
